Indian launches daily service flight from Muscat to Mumbai via Ahmedabad
MUSCAT — Indian, the national carrier of India, has introduced a daily Muscat-Mumbai-Ahmedabad flight on April 3 at 12.05am.
The inaugural ceremony of the flight IC686 was conducted at the Seeb International Airport. While meeting the increasing traffic demands of the region, Indian’s daily service between Muscat and Ahmedabad via Mumbai will benefit Indians living in Oman and also Omanis traveling to Mumbai. The evening flight will depart Ahmedabad at 1940hrs, arrive in Mumbai at 2040hrs, leave in Mumbai at 2200hrs and arrive Muscat at 2310 hrs.
In the return direction, IC686 will leave Muscat at 0005hrs, arrive in Mumbai at 0415 hrs, leave Mumbai at 0530 hrs and reach Ahmedabad at 0630hrs (all timings local).
As a result of this flight, the existing thrice-weekly Delhi-Ahmedabad-Muscat flight will now operate non-stop between Delhi and Muscat. Ashok Kumar Attri, ambassador of India; and Rashid bin Mohammed Al Kiyumi, assistant director-general of civil aviation and meteorology, civil aviation affairs, Ministry of Transport and Communications, jointly cut the cake to mark the inauguration. Top officials of Indian which included R. Harihar, executive director, western region; B. Ramdas, general manager (commercial); Maya S. Maskeri, regional sales manager; and Aditya Mathur, country manager, Oman, were present on the occasion.
Officials from the civil aviation affairs of the Ministry of Transport and Communications; and representatives of National Travel and Tourism; other officials of Indian and the crewmembers of IC686 were also present during the inaugural ceremony. Speaking on the occasion, Rashid bin Mohammed Al Kiyumi said: “The direct operations of Indian between Muscat and Mumbai will benefit a lot of passengers as the demand has been growing in this region.â€
“We are happy that Indian is the fourth airline connecting Muscat to India after Oman Air, Gulf Air, and Air India. We wish Indian all the best and success in its operations in Muscat,†Rashid said.
Ashok Kumar Attri, ambassador of India, while congratulating Indian on its daily flight to Mumbai and Ahmedabad said that Mumbai has been the centrepoint of people-to-people relation between Mumbai and Muscat since a long time.
“In the modern times, Mumbai has become the commercial capital and many Omanis visit Mumbai for studies and business. I am glad that Indian Airlines will be able to cater to this demand,†Attri said.
Commenting on Indian’s strength, Attri said that Indian has a formidable network of routes and pointed out that civil aviation relations between Oman and India have expanded and diversified during his tenure. Attri thanked the Omani government for extending their help and cooperation to Indian. In his comments, R. Harihar, executive director, western region, Indian, said: “It is an important day in the history of Indian Airlines, particularly for the Western region. With the introduction of the new Mumbai-Muscat flight, Indian now connects eight cities from India — Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Kochi, Kozhikode and Hyderabad — to Muscat.â€
