Jet Airways Mumbai-Brussels-Newark flights from Aug 5th
Jet Airways is launching its Mumbai-Brussels-Newark flights on August 5. This will be the first flight launched by Jet Airways to North America. The one-stop flight launch on August 5 will be four days after Air India launches its non-stop flights to the US.
Jet Airways will deploy a Boeing 777-300 ER for this route. The aircraft will have 274 economy class seats, 30 premier class seats and eight first class private suites.
Jet Airways already has an arrangement with Brussels Airlines for connecting flights to other destinations in Europe. The Brussels Airlines link will help passengers flying to Brussels via Jet Airways shift to other European destinations like Stockholm, Oslo, Birmingham, Geneva and Madrid.
Jet Airways feels that a US flight with a European stopover will be better than a direct flight, since it gives an option to passengers looking for travelling to Europe too.
A month after launching the Mumbai-Brussels-Newark flight, Jet Airways plans to start flights to Toronto in Canada from New Delhi. This is also expected to have a stopover in Brussels, where Jet Airways has its European hub.
Jet Airways also has plans to fly to Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco and JFK New York. New flights may be launched from Bangalore, Ahmedabad and Chennai as well.
More Indian airlines are looking to fly abroad since margins in the domestic market are under extreme pressure due to a price war unleashed by the new private low-cost airlines. Jet Airways, which was once the undisputed leader of the Indian private airline business, is now under threat from Kingfisher-Air Deccan and Indian-Air India.
Jet Airways said that the private suites on its first class flights to Newark via Brussels will have the world’s longest airline beds measuring more than two metres. The luxury suite will also have a large flat screen monitor for inflight entertainment. Each first class seat may cost between Rs 4,09,503 and Rs 6,04,311, not including taxes and surcharges.
