IndiGo Airlines celebrates 1 year of operations
IndiGo, India’s fastest growing low-fare airline, has completed one year of operations on August 04, 2007. In its first year, IndiGo added one brand new aircraft each month to its fleet. Today, the airline boasts a fleet size of 11 brand new aircraft, operating 78 daily flights reaching to 15 destinations across the nation. The airline has flown 1.9 million passengers and has handled 15,000 departures till date.

To mark the occasion of its first anniversary, IndiGo is offering fares for Rs. 124 - Rs. 500/- on most sectors starting 04 August 2007. This IndiGo anniversary offer can be availed by booking a flight between 04-10 August 2007. The special anniversary fares will be applicable for travel between 11 August and 30 September 2007.
Commenting on the occasion, Bruce Ashby, President and CEO of IndiGo said, “During our first year we have had some amazing accomplishments. For example, despite the congestion, fog and other bad weather conditions at some of our key airports that affected all airlines, more than three-fourths of all of IndiGo’s flights departed within 15 minutes of their scheduled departure time, and 86% within half an hour. That kind of day-in, day-out, rain-or-shine performance represents a team effort on the part of all of our employees. Also, last December, IndiGo was the first low cost carrier in India to get a CAT III approval from DGCA, which makes a big impact on our ability to take off and land during foggy weather.
“IndiGo has inducted eleven brand new A320 aircraft over the last twelve months,†he continued, â€and we now offer affordable fares and convenient multiple daily services across the length and breadth of India, connecting metros and secondary cities.â€
He further added, “The kind of touches that make IndiGo stand out – such as brand new airplanes, comfortable seats, air conditioned buses, stair-less ramps for boarding, handheld check-in devices and web check-in, have redefined the quality standards for low-fare carriers in India.â€
As a part of IndiGo’s quality service to its customers, the airline now offers a wide array of food and beverages on board its flights. These include freshly made sandwiches, packed juices, aerated drinks, nuts, and cookies.
IndiGo currently operates 78 daily flights to 15 destinations, including Agartala, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Goa, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune and Vadodara. IndiGo will take delivery of four additional brand-new A320 aircraft this year, taking the fleet size to 15 by the end of 2007. It plans to serve approximately 30 Indian cities by 2010, with a fleet of approximately 40 A320s.

Now a days you will find competition every industry. But the way indigo is growing its really amazing. Once I had been to ccu , I saw indigo 1st time there. The main think is that it has lots of plus points comparing to other low cost airlines. With low cost fares they are offering a/c coach, drinking water inside, allowing 20 kg check-in baggage etc etc.
Naturally the are treating others the way they want to be treated. Even this IATA certified airlines is going to become the loving one of all Indians.
Thank you
