Malaysia Airlines - more flights from Chennai and Bangalore
NEW DELHI: Malaysia Airlines has said it will increase its flight frequency from southern India gateways - Chennai and Bangalore, seeking to cater to the growing number of fliers.
From Chennai, the airline’s flight frequency would now be enhanced to nine weekly flights from current seven flights per week, while from Bangalore the flight capacity would be increased from three flights a week to four.
“Chennai and Bangalore are amongst the prominent growing gateways for our South Asia operations, contributing significantly to increased passenger movement and yields,” Malaysia Airlines Regional Manager (South Asia) Christopher Yek said in a statement.
Malaysia Airlines would increase overall seating capacity for flights from Chennai and Bangalore to 3,607 seats from 2,920 seats at present. It would operate Airbus 330-300 and Airbus 330-200 on these routes.
Yek further said with these flight enhancements, the airline is optimistic of increasing passenger yields from these cities.
The additional Chennai flights would be operational from October 28, while that from Bangalore would take-off from November 3.
With the addition of three new flights, Malaysia Airlines would now operate 30 weekly flights from five cities in India. It operates daily flights from New Delhi and Mumbai, the statement said.
