Jet Airways has announced that it will launch a daily direct flight between Chennai and Pune in India, effective May 15, 2008.

Jet Airways already operates daily services from Chennai to Pune via Bangalore. The company will introduce its new service on the Boeing 737-800 next generation aircraft with premiere and economy class configuration.

The company said that with the induction of this new flight, its passengers from Pune will have connections to Kuala Lumpur and Toronto, via Chennai.

Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, CEO of Jet Airways, said: “Passenger traffic on the Chennai-Pune sector has been growing at a fast speed, and the launch of a daily direct flight between the two cities, in addition to our pre-existing service on this route, is an attempt to cater to this increasing passenger demand.”
