British Airways plans Hyderabad-London direct flight
MUMBAI: British Airways has plans to launch a direct flight for London from Hyderabad in December this year, a top airline official said.
"We plan to launch a direct flight from Hyderabad on December 7," British Airways’ Area Commercial Manager, Amanda Amos, told reporters here today.
A Boeing 777 aircraft will be deployed for the proposed new service and it will operate five times a week, Amos said.
"Our investment in India is quite robust and it is here to stay," she said adding that, "the Indian market is important for us. It is the second largest market outside the US in terms of volume."
The UK-based air carrier currently operates 43 flights a week from India.
The airline has recently signed an agreement with the Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) for setting up a lounge for its passengers at the Mumbai airport, she said.
All the flights arriving from Mumbai will now land at the state-of-the art new Terminal-5 at Heathrow airport from September 17, she said.
