SpiceJet yesterday launched an innovative promotional offer- ‘SpiceJet Happy Hours’. To kick start the ‘SpiceJet Happy Hours’, there is a Two for One offer available on SpiceJet.com. The booking to avail the offer started yesterday and is open till today. Under this offer, if a ticket is booked for two or more people in a single transaction, every second passenger gets to fly free. Passenger on free ticket will have to pay Passenger Service Fee (PSF) ranging between Rs 200 and Rs 233. There will be an additional charge of Rs 350 on flights from Hyderabad. NEW DELHI: There’s a silver lining behind every dark cloud. This holds true for the aviation sector too as the turbulence which hit it in 2008 is likely to clear up a little this year. But that’s likely only in the third quarter of this year, says Policy Outlook 2009, a report by the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation (CAPA). The demand for the first half of 2009-10 will be weak, but improve later. Though there will be airline losses this year too, the magnitude will be manageable. Over the last three to four years, the industry has lost over $3 billion.
MUMBAI: Aviation stocks were flying high Wednesday on reports that India may allow foreign airlines to buy stakes in local carriers.
Several of the America’s largest airlines have joined in a lawsuit to block stronger federal rules on crew rest during the longest international flights. The airlines say that the Federal Aviation Administration bypassed usual rule-making procedures and denied them the right to comment before it notified American Airlines and Continental Airlines Inc. of the new rules in late October.
India’s liquor baron Vijay Mallya, chairman and managing director of the UB Group, said that his Kingfisher Airlines would announce attractive tour packages to boost Kashmir tourism in 2009.
Mumbai: More passengers kept away from domestic airlines in 2008 than the previous year as ticket prices increased because of rising jet fuel costs, nearly halting years of low-cost flying. Passenger growth crashed by 17.17% in December to 3.32 million from 4.01 million a year ago.
