Air Deccan Cargo’s global operations put on hold
G R Gopinath, who kickstarted his Deccan Cargo air services during May earlier this year, has put the international operations of the cargo airline on hold even as the domestic operations kickstarted this week. Deccan Cargo & Express Logistics kickstarted its international network on the Delhi-Mumbai-Chennai-Hong Kong route and was also connecting to Dubai. BANGALORE: Deccan Aviation’s Sky limo, the first of its kind air taxi service in India, will soon be operational from Mumbai. “We want to start the Sky limo service from Nariman Point in Mumbai to the city’s airport, a distance which takes about 2 hours by road during the peak hours,” said Deccan Aviation’s chairman Captain GR Gopinath. 
Mumbai: Jet Airways has decided to lay off 1,100 additional employees in the next few days, a top official said on Wednesday. Earlier in the day, Jet said it has retrenched around 800 flight attendants and suspended its expansion programme, adding that it will also cut flights because of a slowdown in demand. 
MUMBAI: Some time next month, a cabin crew member of a low-cost airline will wheel out an in-flight catering cart laden with steaming idli-sambhar or dahi vada or kathi rolls. And the announcement that the meal is on the airline will be the icing on the cake. 
IndiGo, the Delhi-based, low-cost carrier, has ended Air Deccan’s five-year reign as the largest low-cost carrier in the industry. The change took place in August, just before full-service carrier Kingfisher Airlines erased the Air Deccan brand. 
Nagpur: Air passengers of Kingfisher’s (Deccan) Mumbai-Nagpur flight had a close shave on Tuesday evening when one engine of the aircraft developed a technical snag when it was on its way to the city.
