NEW DELHI: Vijay Mallya’s Kingfisher airline has to give up its licences after its merger with Air Deccan is completed in order to use the budget carrier’s entitlement to launch overseas flights under the Kingfisher brand. The merged entity would require IATA membership, besides clearing a host of other formalities.

NEW DELHI: Deccan Aviation, the low cost carrier in which UB Group has picked up 46 per cent stake, on Wednesday said Kingfisher and Deccan will run as two separate brands even when the two airlines are merged.
Liquor baron and MP Vijay Mallya is considering a merger of Air Deccan and Kingfisher. This comes in the wake of Kingfisher’s acquisition of a majority stake in Air Deccan. The two carriers have a combined fleet of 71 aircraft that fly to 70 destinations.
MANGALORE: Bajpe airport of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) is all set to handle a new daily domestic flight service with Air Deccan proposing to operate between Chennai and Mangalore. The airport authorities have permitted the airlines to start the service from Saturday, unless it encountered any last-minute hurdle.
