A possible merger between low-cost carriers

Low-cost carrier GoAir on Wednesday denied reports that it is in merger talks with SpiceJet, its larger rival in the Indian private aviation market. ”We are not looking at any kind of consolidation or merger with SpiceJet or any other airline. It’s one of many rumours,” GoAir chief executive officer Edgardo Badiali told reporters in New Delhi.
Mumbai: Spicejet’s CEO Sanjay Aggarwal met GoAir’s CEO Jeh Wadia to get to know the Indian aviation space as he was new to India. Sanjay Aggarwal on Monday admitted he had met Mumbai-based GoAir’s chief executive officer Jeh Wadia, but declined to comment on reports of a possible merger of the two low-cost airlines. He met Wadia to get to know the Indian aviation space as he was “new to India”, he said.
