Capt. Gopinath sells part of stake in Kingfisher Airlines
BANGALORE: Capt G R Gopinath, one of the largest individual shareholders in Kingfisher Airlines, has sold a portion of his shares in the company. From November 3 to 7, Gopinath sold 19,29,995 shares as per information available on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) websites, mopping up a little over Rs 5 crore in five days. MUMBAI: Vijay Mallya-owned Kingfisher Airlines has benched 50 trainee co-pilots asking them to stay at home till further orders. The company has offered them a monthly stipend of Rs 20,000 against their take-home salary of up to Rs 1 lakh.

MUMBAI: India’s two largest private airlines, Kingfisher Airlines and Jet Airways, are likely to cut ticket prices by up to Rs 1,000 on domestic routes by December.
Mumbai: Jet Airways has decided to lay off 1,100 additional employees in the next few days, a top official said on Wednesday. Earlier in the day, Jet said it has retrenched around 800 flight attendants and suspended its expansion programme, adding that it will also cut flights because of a slowdown in demand.

NEW DELHI: Jet and Kingfisher should have thought twice before jumping into bed as some anti-competitive elements of their alliance could expose them to regulatory scrutiny, say competition law experts. Route rationalisation — a key aspect of their arrangement — could directly impact competition in routes where both airlines have significant presence now, they said. The arrangement gives the combine control of over 60% of the domestic civil aviation industry.
MUMBAI: Private equity WL Ross and Co, which recently put $80 million in Indian discount airline SpiceJet, is in talks with Jet Airways and Kingfisher Airlines for a possible merger of the carrier, a newspaper reported on Friday. "The idea is to increase the valuation of SpiceJet or the money invested by WL Ross before the firm exits," the paper cited a person familiar with the development as saying.
